Cat Zingano lost her UFC fight against Megan Anderson last night in the strangest of circumstances, after she was forced to retire due to getting hit in the eye by Anderson's toe.
It was still the first round when Anderson's kick to the head caught Zingano in the eye. The strike itself didn't appear that powerful and was only glancing at the best, but the way it made contact with her meant she got the brunt of Anderson's toe nail right on the eye.
'The toe went right into the eyeball,' explained Joe Rogan on commentary, which is obviously a very dangerous occurrence.
Thankfully, although she suffered a very painful injury, it appears to not be as serious as Zingano first feared. She took to social media after the fight to display her wound.
I was worried my eye was ruptured. They say I’ll be ok tonight. Thanks to everyone for your concern. What are your thoughts on a finger digit poke vs a toe digit poke being ruled a tko? @ufc pic.twitter.com/qp6Ep4Q3MA

While Anderson got the TKO victory, surely this will result in a rematch.
