Conor McGregor is the UFC interim featherweight champion.
That is a statement his fans have been waiting for the opportunity to say (albeit probably without the interim bit) ever since they saw his UFC debut, and in all honesty, they haven't had to wait long.
This coming Sunday will mark a year to the day that the UFC returned to Dublin for the first event on this island in five years, and now we are preparing to welcome home a champion. It's a meteoric rise to the top that has been incredibly entertaining and satisfying to watch, and we decided to draw up a graphic to show just how much more he is earning that he was even at this time last year:
And it's only going to rise.
You would have to imagine The Ultimate Fighter ratings are going to take a huge upward turn from the borefest that the recent seasons have provided, season 22 Gym vs Gym in particular, and then he'll have a title unification fight with Jose Aldo to look forward to.
He's come a long way from the dole.
