The headline of UFC Fight Night 94 did not disappoint.
With Dustin Poirier on a tear since moving up to 155, and Michael Johnson coming off a loss to Nate Diaz where his striking was made to look ordinary, many fancied Poirier as the favourite for a meeting that promised to propel the victor into the title picture.
But it seems that Michael Johnson very much enjoyed playing the role of underdog as he stopped Poirier with a beautiful combo in the very first round.

Before the fight there was animosity between the two men. Poirier had said a number of things that Johnson was unhappy with, so there was no love lost as both fighters talked a bit of smack before the fight began, and initially after KOing his opponent, Johnson rubbed the victory in Poirier's face with his celebration.
After taking a moment to calm down, Johnson regretted his actions and quickly went over to apologise in a great moment that was missed by the TV coverage of the event for those watching on Fox, or on this side of the world, BT Sport. Thankfully the Swedish broadcast did not cut to commercial and we were able to see what both men had to say to each other:
That's great to see.
Occasionally fighters do carry animosity with them after throwing down, see the Werdum vs Browne situation at UFC 203, but more often than not it all gets left in the octagon and everyone leaves with a score settled.
