Back in October of last year, Chad Mendes travelled to Brazil to take on Jose Aldo in his back yard for the second time. And for the second time, Mendes was on the wrong end of the result.
On July 11th, we're still not sure which man will take to the Octagon to face Conor McGregor. That leaves the Dubliner in an awkward position, even if he won't say that himself. However, at least he's had a chance to see how both fighters matched up against each other.
In anticipation of the biggest fight of 2015, the UFC gave McGregor a ringside seat at UFC 179 and he disappoint. While fans may have caught this clip at the time, the UFC posted the full fight on YouTube yesterday and, there's one particularly noteworthy moment that is getting a lot of attention.
During the fifth round, Aldo questioned a low blow that wasn't called and McGregor is very visibly disgusted at the Brazilian's reluctance to finish off Mendes when he had a chance. It's a small moment in the grand scheme of things but it really does add credence to McGregor's statement that he doesn't care who he fights. He just wanted to see a KO.
And here's the full fight in case you're looking for a good half an hour to spend on this fine sunny day.
