Star of reality TV shows 'Geordie Shore' and 'Ex on the Beach', Aaron Chalmers was victorious on his MMA debut at BAMMA 29 at the Genting Arena in Birmingham.
In the weeks leading up to the fight both Chalmers and BAMMA faced criticism, as some feared his pro debut would go the same way as CM Punk's high-profile loss to Mickey Gall as the reality TV star only had two years of MMA experience, but instead his hand was raised aloft as his dispatched his opponent in minutes.
It should be noted that Greg Jenkins took the fight on just three weeks notice, and agreed to fight at welterweight after Chalmers missed wait by 15 pounds.
Clearly confident that his opponent was only fighting on a BAMMA card as a PR stunt, he accepted the fight and would not have expected to be caught by a kimura in the very first round.
He was loudly booed as he entered the ring, but he walked out with a 'W' on his record.
It will be interesting to see where Chalmers goes with his MMA career from here, as after badly missing weight he made need to reconsider the division he competes in for BAMMA.
But one thing that is clear is that he has worked extremely hard to be taken seriously as a mixed martial artist, and he has passed the first hurdle.
Elsewhere at BAMMA 29, there was disappointment for highly-rated Dubliner Cian Cowley fighting out of SBG, as he lost via 1st-round rear naked choke.
