Despite his rib injury, Jose Aldo wants to fight Conor McGregor.
Along with that news, a coach from Aldo's gym told Brazilian TV that the featherweight champion's injury would likely take a month to heal.
So at the moment, there are a few possibilities. The bout could go ahead at UFC 189 as planned, it could be rescheduled for a date later in the summer, or McGregor could face a different opponent on July 11th.
Frankie Edgar, the former UFC lightweight champion, has already put himself forward as a possible replacement.
MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani reports that the 33-year-old would fight in 18 days time. There's also a post from Edgar on Instagram suggesting he's just waiting for the call.
I'm told, if officially offered, Edgar would say yes to a fight against McGregor on 18 days notice.

Whether or not McGregor would want to face Edgar at such short notice is another thing.
Edgar is a wrestler, the Irishman's so-called kryptonite. He would be a completely different opponent to Aldo.
18 days would certainly not be enough time for McGregor to prepare.
