While performance bonuses are all well and good, it's fair to say that not a lot of people can fathom the UFC's pay structure, and the details from the Frank Mir v Todd Duffee fight is a glaring example.
Granted, Mir knocked out Duffee with a devastating punch but is it fair that he received a flat payment of $200,000 for the fight while Duffee only got $12,000? That's without Mir's win bonus.
Both fighters were also given $50,000 fight of the night bonus each but again this does nothing to narrow the discrepancy between both fighters's pay.
It's another example in the space of the last few weeks after Robbie Lawlor received $300,000 base pay for his fight against Rory McDonald at UFC 189, with McDonald only receiving $59,000.
While Mir and Lawlor are definitely bigger draws, the difference in pay to their competitors is staggering.
