The rift between the Mayweather and McGregor camp continues as Floyd senior gives his opinion on the matter. Reporter, Marcos Villegas questioned the father and coach of arguably the greatest technical boxer to ever live, Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Standing there in the lobby, sporting a purple tracksuit top, Mayweather Sr appeared confident that his son would convincingly defeat Conor McGregor using the tactics which have granted him success to date. The 49-0 boxer has made a career of his defensive style coupled with pinpoint precision jabs which wear down opponents over the course of the fight.
A jab would take care of his ass all day, all he gonna be trying to do is slide and get in.
I think Conor McGregor is a talker and not a doer. Whatever he did in MMA, they not going to let him get away with all that stuff (in Boxing). I'm just telling you right now.
Floyd can hit him with jabs all night and cut him up.
Villegas proceeded to show footage of Conor McGregor's fight against Eddie Alvarez. Undeniably, one of the finest displays of boxing to be displayed within an octagon in some time. The Dubliner was faultless as he stood in front of the lightweight champion, arms behind his back, chin out, confident as ever.
Floyd Mayweather Sr stood there meticulously taking the movements of the SBG fighter into account. A level of respect was seemingly on display as he viewed the bout.
I ain't gonna say his fundamentals are all that good. I don't think his fundamentals are bad but I think you gotta understand his fundamentals aren't up there with the man either (Floyd). You got levels. My son gonna cut his beard for him.
While cutting a beard with boxing gloves on seems like a logistical nightmare, but nevertheless he has every bit of confidence in his son's capabilities if a superfight between the two ever came to fruition.
