Paulie Malignaggi's latest attempt to maneuver himself into a future fight against Conor McGregor involves Floyd Mayweather.
In a video for Fight Hype, Mayweather and Malignaggi suggest that Malignaggi was in McGregor's camp as a spy for Mayweather.
A former two-weight world champion, Malignaggi was hired by McGregor to be a sparring partner. The relationship lasted two sessions before Malignaggi left in bitter circumstances.
As Malignaggi repeatedly tells McGregor and Co. that they were 'suckas', Mayweather says that the New Yorker called him and asked if he wanted him to be a mole in the McGregor camp.
Paulie has always been my friend. My friend called me and said, 'Floyd, do you want me to go to camp?' [I said] 'Abs-fucking-lutely'.
Mayweather also said that he and Malignaggi would be talking strategy before the fight.
Me and Paulie are going to stay at the house and talk about strategy. We're going to talk about everything. Don't you worry.
Paulie, thank you for going over there like I asked you to do.
