Somehow, despite having use of just one eye for two-thirds of the fight, Eddie Alvarez still beat Gilbert Melendez at UFC 188 in Mexico City.
Alvarez (who is actually half-Irish), had his nose broken in the first round by Melendez. As 31-year-old made his way to his corner, he made the mistake of blowing his nose which caused his eye to instantly swell up.
