After almost exactly two years out of the game due to injury, Khabib Nurmagomedov makes his long-awaited return to UFC action this weekend.
In his last bout, he easily dispatched of Rafael Dos Anjos and after the Brazilian went on to win the UFC lightweight title while Khabib recovered from injury, the undefeated fighter from Dagestan was always going to be in the mixup for a title fight upon his return.
And he's not willing to wait around.
Originally due to fight Tony Ferguson, Nurmagomedov will now fight an unknown quantity in Darrell Horcher who makes his UFC debut and he made it perfectly clear that he expects a title shot to be granted once he does the job in Tampa.
I hope UFC give me a title shot after this fight because a lot of fans agree with me, I am undefeated, all these bums lose a lot of times.
Nate Diaz lose 10 times, McGregor lose, Tony Ferguson lose, Eddie Alvarez, Cowboy, RDA everybody lose, I am undefeated, UFC have to give me a title shot.
With Rafael Dos Anjos' next title defence coming just before UFC 200 against Eddie Alvarez, it looks nailed on that the winner of that fight will take on Khabib should he get past Horcher, especially if Frankie Edgar can defeat Jose Aldo and earn his shot at Conor McGregor.
One thing is for sure, and that is that if Khabib is overlooked again, he is going to be pissed. You can watch the full interview with Nurmagomedov after his open workout right here via MMAFighting.com:
