For quite some time now, MMA fans have been speculating about the card for UFC 227. While the re-match between TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt was signed, several fights have not been confirmed leading to rumours online. Today Dana White went some way towards addressing those when he confirmed Nate Diaz versus Georges St-Pierre was in the works.
Speaking on the UFC Unfiltered Podcast, White confirmed the fight was in the works and also that he hoped Luke Rockhold and Alexander Gustafsson would also be on the card.
It is true and they would fight at 155-pounds. There are rumors, what did I see? That we were doing Gustafsson and Rockhold, that is true, but that’s not for the interim title, that’s false. It might be LA, I’m targeting LA.
“In my perfect world, if everything goes perfect, and nothing ever goes perfect in this world, Dillashaw vs Garbrandt, GSP vs Diaz would be the co-main, Gustafsson vs Rockhold and Brunson vs Antonio Carlos Jr.
The event takes place at the Staples Centre in LA this August. The fight would be a big drop in weight for St-Pierre and would require some persuasion from White towards both fighters, according to MMA journalist Ariel Helwani.
UFC is interested, no doubt, but I’d categorize the talks as preliminary right now. Both men, quite recently, expressed very little interest in the fight for differing reasons. Few hurdles. https://t.co/UF8tQ5276m

Both the Diaz brothers have been reluctant to do deals recently, but a main event bout in LA could tempt Nate into considering.
