Conor McGregor didn't do quite as much damage to The Mountain as Oberyn Martell did in season four of Game of Thrones, but unlike Martell, at least he emerged from the encounter with his eyeballs intact and his heart still beating.
Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson - the Icelandic actor who portrays one of Game of Thrones' most infamous characters - turned up a Straight Blast Gym on the Naas road to train with McGregor and fellow Icelander Gunnar Nelson.
Björnsson stands at 6' 9" and weighs nearly 400lbs.
On Twitter, McGregor unsurprisingly said that he has never fought a man this size before.
Today I had a bare-knuckle fight off a 180kg monster called 'The Mountain'
I'd never fought a man that big before. pic.twitter.com/BM22JOeZK1
