We all got a good laugh with the spoiled vote in the General Election trying to get Conor McGregor into the Oireachtas, but it might not seem as far-fetched as it did.
Naturally, when the Dubliner arrived in Las Vegas on Wednesday night he was asked about the spoiled vote that was doing the rounds following last week's general election, and whether he had any interest in pursuing a political career, and McGregor was typically assured on the subject:
I got a great laugh when someone put my name in for it.
I would love to do something to help my people but I wouldn't go into it as a publicity type thing. If you can't truly help the people, then I wouldn't do it. That's down the line maybe.
The thought may make a lot of people sick to the stomach but there's no denying that if he were to put his name forward, it would take an awful lot to halt his march to Dáil Éireann. And while politics may be a distant thought, the possibility that the Dubliner could make a transition towards Hollywood has been on the cards in recent months.
Vin Diesel did a decent job of highlighting his new XXX movie by suggesting that McGregor had signed up for a role, but when asked last night, McGregor was certain that the only thing on his mind at the moment was MMA, although that doesn't mean that will always been the case.
I don't have any real passion for show business but as one thing dies down, another thing rises so who knows.
