It was a lucrative weekend's work for Conor McGregor.
The Dubliner earned a salary of $500,000 at UFC 189. His defeated opponent Chad Mendes made the same amount.
On top of his salary, McGregor received a $50,000 'Fight of the Night' bonus plus he had an agreement for a percentage of the pay-per-view buys. There is also sponsorship income.
It was announced today that McGregor will coach a team of eight Europeans in the next season of The Ultimate Fighter. They will go up against a Urijah Faber coached squad of Americans.
McGregor's featherweight unification fight against Jose Aldo is expected to take place on January 2nd in Las Vegas.
Other Irish fighters on the night, Cathal Pendred and Neil Seery, earned $10,000 and $15,000 respectively. Both lost their bouts.
Apart from McGregor, the other SBG winner on Saturday night was Gunnar Nelson. The Icelandic welterweight earned a purse of $29,000 plus a win bonus of the same amount for a total salary of $58,000.
