In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Conor McGregor has responded vehemently to claims that he used racist language toward Floyd Mayweather during the press tour for their fight in Vegas in a fortnight.
McGregor was at the UFC high-performance centre yesterday for his media workout, and sat down with Helwani for a 24-minute interview where they discussed everything from, the C.J. Watson / Draymond Green basketball jersey, Paulie Malignaggi and the racist allegations.
On the latter, here's how McGregor responded:
I never labelled him a monkey or any African American a monkey, I would not disrespect any race like that.
His people know that, he knows that too. If I was to label him after any animal, it would be the rat, I wouldn't even label him after the great Ape.
He is a fucking rat and a weasel because that is what a rat and a weasel does, tries to manipulate words and create something that is not there.
It is a weak move on his part to try and instigate something, but that is the individual he is, a man who beats his wife in front of his kids.
There was no holding back from the Dubliner on those accusations, as the verbals between the pair have gone up a few pegs as the bout inches closer and closer.
Dana White released carefully selected video footage on his Instagram of the sparring between McGregor and Malignaggi, where it appears to show McGregor knocking the former boxer to the canvas.
