Conor McGregor told a baying Brazilian crowd that they love him, but they just don't know it yet.
Ahead of Chad Mendes' UFC 179 encounter with Jose Aldo on Saturday, McGregor appeared for a pretty heated Q&A session at Rio's Maracanzinho arena, next to the fabled Maracana. The Dubliner was met by fans chanting "uh vai morrer", which translates as "uh, you're gonna die".
McGregor's response? "I'm not dead yet". It's pretty clear that McGregor is openly despised by the South American crowd, but it didn't seem to bother him. He later tweeted to MMA journalist Ariel Helwani:
@arielhelwani They love me Ariel. They just don't know it yet. pic.twitter.com/GVcoutiC8w — Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) October 24, 2014
