Conor McGregor has been speaking to Ariel Helwani in Manchester on Saturday night as part of the 'An Experience With' series. Inevitably, talk turned to McGregor's proposed fight with Floyd Mayweather. The two have been going at it in public for some time now and fight fans have been starting to question whether the two are ever going to actually come to blows in the end.
McGregor sounded fairly certain that he wants the fight to happen at some time fairly soon.
McG: I'm chilling right now. I have my eyes on one thing and that's Floyd Mayweather. I'm sitting in the house. Floyd offers 15 million, then 25 million. I'm sitting watching the millions go up!
AH: Where does it stand right now?
McG: Me and Floyd have got to get together and figure it out, like him and Manny figured it out. Once we come to a number, once we come to a set number that I'm happy with, he's happy with, then we get to the customers. Then we go to the promoters, the buyers, then we get it done.
I go to Vegas, handle the (Nevada Athletics) Commission, figure that siutation out and then we'll come to a dotted line.
But this is happening.
McGregor outlined why he thinks he can win the fight.
I've got the reach, I've got the youth, I've got the confidence, I've got the unpredictable style. You can't prepare for a style like me.
Why conquer one world when you can conquer two? I'm gonna go conquer two worlds.
And Helwani pressed him for a potential fight date.
AH: What do you think the chances are of it happening in 2017?
McG: I believe it will happen by the end of this year or early next year. I believe either side of that it will happen.
McGregor finished the Q and A by yelling:
Fuck you Floyd Mayweather! I'll be seeing you soon!
