Conor McGregor has contducted a press conference along with Chad Mendes ahead of their upcoming title fight at UFC 189, and as expected The Notorious Dubliner was at his typical confident best as he delt with questions on everything from his preparation for Mendes to the effect that the Irish crowd have.
One question in particular produced a very interesting response from McGregor, when he was asked if he expects to fight Aldo once the Brazilian comes back from his injury:
If he mans up then we should get it on, but he's gone running scared and I don't think he'll be back.
The medical reports have said he's fit to fight, so he's fit to fight. I don't think he will be back, the man has pussied out time and again, there's no more questions, this is for the real belt.
McGregor had said while he was still scheduled to fight Aldo that he expected his opponent to retire after the bout, due to his close relationship with his coach who has publicly announced his intention to retire, but Aldo has given no indication that that is the case.
It remains to be seen if the Aldo v McGregor title fight will ever happen, but Conor certainly doesn't think it will.
