While there was plenty chat yesterday about a big Conor McGregor homecoming event, John Kavanagh had very little word of it on the MMA Hour yesterday and in fact, revealed that The Notorious won't be home until late August or early September.
This is because he will be busy filming the new season of The Ultimate Fighter, which will take six weeks or so to shoot.
While his journey home may be delayed, one would imagine they'll still be a large event when he eventually makes it back to Dublin, despite the lack of hype from Kavanagh. As his coach pointed himself, they haven't much of clue of the reaction to the win in Ireland:
I still think we're a bit of bubble here. I don't really know how big this is yet. Some people have messaged me, you know, saying 'This is going to be something that in 20 years time people will look back and will remember it as a great achievement in Irish sport' and a lot of nice things like that.
Indeed rather than thinking about a homecoming, Kavanagh's thought went straight to another of his fighters, Paddy Holohan who faces Vaughan Lee at UFC Fight Night 72 this Saturday night in Glasgow.
I kind of went straight into UFC Glasgow mindset. And I've always sort of been like that. Win, lose or draw on Saturday night, the sun rises Saturday morning and the job continues.
