There may be only nine days until the biggest fight of his UFC career, but Conor McGregor is already looking past it. Granted, it may not be the original bout that everyone was so highly anticipating, but his new challenger Chad Mendes is one of just three fighters ranked ahead of McGregor in the featherweight division.
But McGregor has taken note of the latest UFC announcement that will bring an event to Dublin in late October, and wants to be involved. Whether or not that happens however, is another thing entirely.
You don’t have a show in my hometown and not have me on it. Most certainly I want to be on that card, so we will see which way it plays out.
However, much he wants it though, Dublin fans shouldn't get excited about a McGregor fight at the 3Arena. The Dublin event is a UFC Fight Pass card, which means that McGregor's pull would be far too big for the event. American TV audiences would also demand a prime-time slot for any potential McGregor fight - which would mean that any fight in Dublin would take place in the middle of the night which doesn't seem likely.
In any case, McGregor needs to concentrate on Chad Mendes in less than two weeks time. If McGregor beats Mendes and wins the interim belt - his next fight will be against Aldo for a title unification, which would need to be in a bigger stadium than the 3 Arena reducing the chances even further.
