Conor McGregor again proved that he can completely dominate a night of sporting news worldwide, as within minutes of posting that he was going to "retire young", the likes of the BBC, ESPN, and New York times had issued a reaction.
And nobody knew what to make of it.
We're actually still waiting for confirmation that it was a piss-take at the time of writing this article, although we are positive there are a group of Irish mixed martial artists laughing their arses off somewhere in Iceland at this very moment.
Regardless, what we did get were a hell of a lot of reactions, opinions, and conspiracy theories, some of which we have rounded up to highlight the madness that a single tweet can cause.
Dan Hardy jokingly suggested that a new headline at UFC 200 caused Conor to throw the toys out of the pram...
I reckon the UFC moved his fight from the main event in favor of GSP... and he's not happy. ? https://t.co/s46HfPnvnT

While lover of all things Cavan and wrestling, Mark Farrelly, was quick to link it back to one of this two great loves. This one was well spotted...

Although Cowboy wasn't having any of it at all:
I sought it. Just another stunt to get people to talk about his bitch ass https://t.co/U9Tww5KPh4

There were those who suggested it was a cover-up:
Prediction: mcgregor retired because he had to pull out of fight and talked too much shit about people who pulled out of fights.

And some very earnest detective work suggesting a seriously big cover up:
.@SeanSheehanBA May be overlooking this but John Kavanagh posted a screenshot to facebook but look at the background pic.twitter.com/ULlKT6X7w8

Of course, the 'hacked' claim was inevitable:
Either McGregor was hacked or he's holding out for more money and calling a bluff.

But we reckon Paddy is closest to the truth:
Last time we were all in Iceland we were getting ready for UFC Dublin #ufc ...still the same people havin the craic a few years later ???

What a crazy night.
What was your initial reaction? And be honest now...
