During last night's UFC 205 press conference, one journalist asked if Conor McGregor picking up a chair and half-heartedly looking like he was going to hit Eddie Alvarez with it had been pre-planned. An answer was not forthcoming.
Given UFC president Dana White's demeanour during the post-press conference face off between the lightweight and featherweight champions, you'd have to presume it was not. White looked genuinely concerned that a Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier-esque brawl could kick-off at any moment.
Still, it appeared a lacklustre attempt from McGregor.
After he had walked in late to the press conference, the Dubliner took a few steps beyond his seat to grab Eddie Alvarez's lightweight belt, the one which is on the line this weekend. McGregor planted it on the desk next to his own featherweight strap. An antagonised Alvarez walked up to reclaim his belt, moments later sliding a chair towards McGregor. This sent the Irish fighter into what appeared to be a feigned rage.
Stood between Alvarez and McGregor as the WWE-style bluster flew was Dana White and to their right, capturing the whole thing on camera, was welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.
Woodley posted video of the incident to Instagram last night, adding a little bit of editorial.
How you act when u know somebody gone break it up!
Here's how it happened from Woodley's perspective.
