The addition of Phil 'CM Punk' Brooks to the UFC was a controversial one when Dana White signed him to the roster last year.
The former WWE Wrestler had no training in any martial arts discipline and his signing was met with criticism as some accused White purely of signing him due to his profile and the publicity he would generate.
Punk has taken his training seriously if this promotional video is anything to go by, but it's yet to be decided when he will take to the octagon for his debut contest.
He was interviewed at UFC189 and said this when asked about new Interim Featherweight champion Conor McGregor:
I love Conor McGregor, Conor McGregor is great business.
That's a guy that gets it.
Clearly Punk, like McGregor is a fan of the business side of the industry and he also spoke of the passion he's seen from Irish fans.
They just love the guy, I think that's great. I think half my plane coming over here was Irish.
Punk also spoke of his own progress in the interview, and addressed the criticism he has received.
It's probably 50/50, you either want to watch to see me get my ass kicked, or you want to watch cause you're pulling for me.
I'm sure there's a little bit of that car crash analogy, people just want to see what's gonna happen.
I'm the new guy it's not my place to call people out, everyone's falling all over themselves to call me out anyway so I just kind of let the chips fall where they may.
