It could have been two weeks without stepping into the octagon for Donald Cerrone, instead it's going to be four months.
Cowboy was originally the favourite to replace Rafael dos Anjos as Conor McGregor's opponent at UFC 196, instead the promotion opted for Nate Diaz.
Cerrone made his debut at welterweight last month with a submission of Alex Oliveira just two and a half minutes into their fight in Pittsburgh. Previous to that move up in weightclass, the American lost a lightweight title bout to dos Anjos in mid-December.
For his second bout at 170, Cerrone will take on Patrick Cote - a 36-year-old Canadian with a record of 23-9 - at Fight Night Ottawa on June 18th.
The main event on that night is the mouth-watering bout between another Canadian, Rory MacDonald and Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson.
