One of the cornermen who supported a fighter on the UFC Fight Night 76 card in Dublin this past weekend has posted an account of his experience and proclaimed Dublin the best fight town in the world after the event in the 3 Arena on Saturday night.
Lucas Lutkus, who was in the corner of Liverpool-born Darren Till, took to reddit's MMA forum to express his delight at the atmosphere and explained why he was so impressed with the Irish fans:
So, i'm in Dublin this weekend, i'm a brazilian and i was in the corner of Darren Till, who trains over there at Astra Fight Team.
Before coming to Dublin, i really thought it was a similar energy to Brazil, but it hurts to say that you really can't compare. Dublin is the best fight town in the world.
We were supposed to leave the hotel at 6:45PM and stayed until 7:15PM because there were so many people around the arena that it was impossible for us to get there. After the fight, which was by far my most impressive experience with crowd cheering, i literally couldn't hear myself, the hotel was filled with fans asking for pictures and autographs.
I've been to several UFCs in Brazil and Vegas and i have never seen so many people interested on every fighter in the card and remember guys, the main event was Smolka vs Holohan, can you imagine how many people would go to an event with a main fight like this in Vegas or Rio?
After an amazing experience (and Fight of the Night honors baby!), i'm going to Brazil dying to be back as soon as possible, it was an amazing experience and i, as a brazilian, can truly say that Dublin is the best fight town in the world!
His fighter Darren Till put in an impressive performance as the 22 year old fought out a bloody and bruising draw that would go on to win fight of the night honors, so we look forward to seeing Till in action again soon.
It's also good to know that the minority of muppets who sullied the occasion somewhat by throwing glasses and bottles at the octagon when Paddy Holohan was tapped by Louis Smolka didn't ruin what was another great night for Irish MMA.
