UFC Fight Night 109 in Stockholm was an absolutely cracking event that MMA fans all over Europe would have really enjoyed not having to stay up until 6am to see.
Having featured several highlight-reel KOs, including Bojan Velickovic making his opponent look like a newborn deer, and Volkan Oezdemir looking absolutely terrifying, the best was saved for last as hometown hero Alexander Gustafsson gave the crowd exactly what they wanted, and more.
In the 5th round of a war with Glover Teixeira, where it was beginning to look like the Swede would not be able to get the finish, the referee called a stop to the fight as Teixeira hit the deck.
As superb finish, but the entertainment did not end there.
After expressing his delight to be performing for his Swedish fans once again, and getting the finish, Gustafsson called his pregnant girlfriend into the octagon and proposed to her in one of the most romantic moments in UFC history.
Thankfully, she said yes.
A lovely moment at the end of a fantastic event, congratulations to Mr (and soon to be Mrs!) Gustafsson who will now be looking to get himself back into the discussion for what happens after Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones meet at UFC 214.
