Every week here on Balls.ie, we look back on the heyday of ridiculous noughties Irish sporting photo shoots.
On this day in 2004, Irish rugby legend Keith Wood ventured up to St Stephen's Green in Dublin for one of the most ridiculous photo shoots in the history of Irish sport. Woodie's job was to promote the launch of Dawn's omega milk range. Because the governing rule of Celtic Tiger era Irish sporting photo shoots determined that a model should be present at all photo shoots, the imagery captured that day is truly surreal: needlessly suggestive and quite goofy.
The set-up: Keith Wood, model Roberta Rowat, two children, a bunch of straws and a massive glass of milk.
The goal: launch a new brand of omega milk
'I'll hold your straw, just suck'
The world's biggest Bailey's glass
Because milk is a family drink, it was important to have two children join Keith on the day. Step forward 5 year old Rebecca Johnston from Arklow and 4 year old Kealan Quinn, from Kimmage.
Success or failure?
Success.
Photos of Wood and company were all over the Irish daily newspapers the next day, as Wood lamented the GAA's decision that week not to allow rugby games at Croke Park in sit down interviews with the media. (Rule 42 went into cessation a year later).
Where are they now?
Keith Wood remains one of the best pundits on Irish rugby. He was last seen promoting Heineken 0.0 ahead of the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Former Assets model Roberta Rowat eventually moved to New York. She was profiled by Barry Egan in the Sunday Independent in 2015.
