As part of the work we are doing to support the amazing work all the nurses, doctors and staff at Temple Street do day in, day out, we are calling on you to join our own Balls.ie team in Techies4TempleStreet city-wide Treasure hunt.
Beginning at the Aviva stadium on the 6th of July 2018, this is the fourth year of the event which has so far raised over €600,00 for Temple Street Children’s University Hospital, Dublin.
Every day, hundreds of sick children and their worried families come through the doors of Temple Street in need of world-class medical care. The Temple Street Foundation raises the funds needed to ensure that these children continue to have access to the very best paediatric equipment, facilities and supports when they need it most.
This year, the Temple Street Foundation have teamed up with AIB to reach a goal of €250,000 to go towards the hospital.
Since its inception in 2015, the Treasure Hunt has raised €600,000 to help children and their families, providing life-saving equipment, as well as helping to fund the construction of the new Renal & Neurology Outpatients Unit. Last year €225,000 was raised by over 130 teams, from the worlds of tech, finance, law, media, including social networking giant LinkedIn and 2017 champions, technology consulting firm, BearingPoint.
The 2018 hunt begins at the Aviva stadium where competing teams of all sizes, from small start-ups to large multinationals, begin their search for buried treasure around the city. On this year’s treasure hunt teams will use digital platforms and they are challenged with questions and clues, where strategy and team work will decide the winners.
Denise Fitzgerald, Chief Executive of the Temple Street Foundation, has spoken of the impact the event has had over the last 4 years on Temple street,
Techies4TempleStreet has already made a huge difference to Temple Street Children’s University Hospital and its patients. This year will see us move to the Aviva Stadium for the first time, and we’re hoping to host over 150 teams from an even more diverse range of companies, big and small. The event was originally envisaged as a very unique and different networking event but increasingly, many participants tell us that it has real value as a team-building and client relations day out.
There is still time left to register a team to join the hunt and, despite the name, you don’t have to be a tech company to take part. All that’s required is a can-do attitude, a sense of humour and an appetite for teamwork.
