It was Limerick's spirit in the final quarter of the game which most impressed John Kiely following his side's All-Ireland semi-final victory over Galway.

Limerick won 0-27 to 0-24 but the game had been level deep into injury time at the end of the second half.

"We found it difficult at times," Kiely told RTÉ.

"We kept our composure. The unity and character that's in the group shone out in the last 15 minutes. That's what got us across the line.

"We just grounded it out. Our bench had a huge impact again in the last 20 - 25 minutes. They all made a significant impact when they came on.  They got those vital last couple of scores that we needed.

"It was a very physical battle overall. It was very condensed in the middle third.

"We made a good few mistakes. Handling errors and little bits and pieces. We left a few bits after us that we wouldn't be happy with. We have a lot to work on, on the training field for the next two weeks. Listen, it's good to be there."

Galway got off to a fast start in the game, leading by seven points to two after 14 minutes. The Munster champions reeled them in and led 0-15 to 0-13 at the break.

"We just composed ourselves," said Kiely of how his side got back into the game.

"In the first 15 - 20 minutes, we were working very hard but there were a few handling errors, a few misplaced passes, a few touches that didn't come to hand.

"We didn't get into our rhythm whereas in the last quarter hour of the first half, I felt we got way more into our rhythm at that stage. That was down to taking care of the ball more."

Limerick will meet Waterford in the All-Ireland final on December 13th.
