In round two of the Electric Ireland Fitzgibbon Cup, DCU edged out Mary Immaculate college in a thrilling encounter at the MICL Grounds.
A late goal from goalkeeper Eddie Gibbons completed a late comeback to come out as 2-21 to 2-18 winners, and see them progress to the last eight.
The Dublin college got off to a flying start, with Kilkenny's Conor Hennessy scoring a goal after two minutes as they took an ealy 1-1 lead.
The Limerick college didn't panic, and made the next four scores in the game, with Declan McLaughlin among their scored to bring them level.
Both sides exchanged scores until Devan Ryan scored Mary I's first goal to give them a 1-7 to 1-6 lead. DCU responded four points in the final four minutes of the half to go in with a 1-10 to 1-10 lead at the interval.
Both sides continued their back and forth nature of the game in the second half, with DCU's Ross Banville continuing to impress, as his scores have them a 1-14 to 1-13 lead after 14 minutes.
The Limerick college were rewarded for their efforts when Declan McLaughlin scored their second goal in the 45th minute to give them a 2-14 to 1-15 lead.
DCU had to dig deep to save their Fitzgibbon Cup campaign, and got their deserved late goal through goalkeeper Eddie Gibbons to claim a late victory.
In today's other game, University of Galway claimed their spot in the quarter-finals with a comfortable 2-23 to 1-13 win over SETU Waterford.
Their forward line was once again impressive, as they raced into a 0-7 to 0-2 lead after 10 minutes, with Evan Niland and Greg Thomas key to their play.
University of Galway were ruthless in attack, and went into the interval with a 1-14 to 0-6 lead, with Alex Connaire scoring their goal in the 25th minute.
Despite their best efforts, the Waterford college couldn't find a way back into the game as University of Galway kept the scoreboard ticking.
Ruben Halloran scored their Waterford's only goal with 10 minutes remaining, but Jack O'Meara scored the Galway side's second goal as they ran out comfortable winners.
