Horse racing fans have been blessed with some remarkable recoveries in 2017. Jack Kennedy and Tony Kelly both grabbed the headlines with their remarkable turnarounds after near-falls. Now, Phillip Enright has added another exceptional ride to the list.
Enright pulled off a spectacular manoeuvre aboard Surf Instructor to win the D Pack Packaging Rated Novice Chase at Limerick today. Having just barely remained on the horse after the last, Enright managed to steer home for a remarkable victory.

Speaking to At The Races after the race, Enright credited the mistake for kick-starting the horse:
Thankfully someone was looking down on me and pushed me back into the saddle. He really got going in the last 100 yards and it wasn't until his mistake at the last that he really came alive. It happened that quick I didn't know what happened, but I was very close to being gone - thankfully we had luck on our side.
While a remarkable feat, we doubt Enright will resort to this approach in the future.
