General Principle clinched an absorbing contest in the BoyleSports Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse today.
Gordon Elliot had 13 out of the 30 horses entered in the race and it was the JJ Slevin ridden eight-year-old who managed to win the National for the Irish trainer and land the €500,000 prize fund on offer.
The result had to be cleared by a judge after a maniac end.
