And just like that, we are entering the final furlong of the 2025 Cheltenham Festival, and it will forever go down as one of the most dramatic festivals in recent history. But today, fans of Galopin Des Champs will be hoping for as little drama as possible as the formidable 3m chaser goes in search of his third Cheltenham Gold Cup in a row.
Before we get time to think about what might happen if Galopin Des Champs were to complete history, the juveniles take to the track to kick us off in the JCB Triumph Hurdle.
Nicky Henderson has had a tough week with Constitution Hill falling in the Champion Hurdle and Jonbon jumping his chances away in the Champion Chase. Still, today, he will look to start the final day of the 2025 Cheltenham Festival with a bang as his exciting 4-year-old Lulamba will put his loft reputation on the line against the unbeaten EAST INDA DOCK.
Kargese will be looking to keep the Closutton train rolling in the County Hurdle, but if she is to prove this a wise decision for team Mullins, she will need to settle much better than she did when turned over at short odds at Ascot, and that's before she has to contend with last two winners from last season's festival that include her stablemate and Melbourne Cup fifth, Abusrde.
The Mares Chase goes to post at 2:40, and last season's first and second clash once more. However, the roles may be reversed this time as Dinoblue looks to right the wrongs of last season.
All eyes will be on the clock as the Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle goes to post, as we will be just 40 minutes away from the blue ribbon event.
Flicker Of Hope, trained by Mark Fahey, the final trainer featured in our 'Hero the Horses' series, will set out to upset the Henry de Bromhead-trained favourite, The Big Westner. But he must also contend with last season's champion bumper winner, Jasmin De Vaux.
Now, we have reached the time to sit back, somewhat relax, and enjoy witnessing history as Galopin Des Champs gallops his rivals into submission and gets crowned the best three-mile chaser ever to step foot on a racecourse.
We have had so much drama this week that it would be nice to finish off with a facile win for Galopin Des Champs.
