With thanks to Ladbrokes, this week's mid-week racing at Dundalk has two horses which we can't help but keep our eyes on.
Under the lights at the County Louth all-weather, don't be surprised to see these two take the finishing post.
Dundalk Wednesday 5.50
Our eyes are fixed on Belmont Avenue here in the 5.50.
He ran a promising race finishing 3rd in a barrier trial at this venue before just failing to nap Malaysian at Cork on his full racecourse debut. He subsequently was sent off favourite for a maiden at the Curragh but was a bit disappointing finishing 7th of 18 behind the now 1000 Guineas hotpot Santa Barbara.
This is a return to much calmer waters though and of those with experience he looks the pick although the newcomer from the Aidan O’Brien yard, County Wicklow has to be respected.
TIP: Belmont Avenue
Dundalk Wednesday 7.20
The 7.20 at Dundalk on Wednesday is the Rated Race of the evening.
Our pick here is Mahaaseel. She was a winner of her maiden here last season before finding a red-hot stakes race too tough and now looks fairly treated off a mark of 82.
Her trainer Kevin Prendergast has his horses in good heart to start the season so this being her first run since October of last year shouldn’t be too much of a concern. She has already proven that she likes the surface and could run a big race at a nice price.
TIP: Mahaaseel
