Tyrone lad, Oscar Murphy, may have just had his 'Chipping a ball into a washing machine on the Gerry Kelly Show' moment.
The 13-year-old joined Rory McIlroy as a guest player on the 15th at the Abu Dhabi Championship today and hit one hell of a tee shot. In fact his 'sick fade' ensured he nestled the ball on the green, closer to the pin than world no.1, Dustin Johnson and Race to Dubai Champion, Tommy Fleetwood.
Speaking afterwards he described how nervous he felt on the tee but when he got into the mechanics of the shot, he sounded like a complete pro, 'Played it a bit off the front foot. 3 wood, nice high fade and it was just perfect.'
Oscar plays off a six-handicap at the moment so he certainly is worth keeping an eye on. Tommy Fleetwood was full of praise:
He's hit this three that just faded into the pin. Unbelievable shot. Me and Rory just said we don't have that shot, we don't have it in our locker. I was playing middle of the green because I couldn't get to the pin so very very impressive.
Remember this video because I highly doubt we've seen the last of Oscar Murphy. Also if you don't know what mean by the washing machine moment, see below.
