Cursing and American viewers - especially in golf, don't mix. We saw that with the farcical situation that saw Shane Lowry forced to apologising for offending people last year.
So when Graeme McDowell did the same at the US PGA Championship you could be forgiven for thinking more of the same would happen:

To be fair to McDowell, he's completely right. It's hard to watch any golf shot these days without someone shouting something moronic and unoriginal after the ball is struck.
Graeme decided to get ahead of the situation by apologising early, but twitter had already seen it:
