A day after dropping two late shots for a one-under-par-70, Rory McIlroy has roared back into contention at the Open.
The 2014 champion recovered from yesterday's disappointing finish to cruise through the front nine. With the lead in sight, he nailed a monster eagle on the 14th.
EAGLE at 14 for @McIlroyRory. From nowhere he is back in a share of the lead.

McIlroy, Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth are all among an outstanding pack still in contention. For now, his one under par 70 finish gives him a -6 for the week and tie with clubhouse leader Justin Rose. However, it is unlikely that it will be enough with a high performing field currently in action. Woods finished one shot back on -5.
