Hope that a return to Quail Hollow - the scene of Rory McIlroy's first PGA Tour victory in 2010, and another last year - would herald a return to form for the Irishman, has proved unfounded, as a one-over par 73 has left him out of contention. It was another infuriatingly inconsistent round for Rory, with the nadir being a double-bogey on the ninth. There, was, however, one noticeable high-point: a monster 79-foot birdie at the 17th hole, which is the biggest putt of his career. Have a look below:
