The first point of the final Ryder Cup day went to Team USA as Justin Thomas overcame Rory McIlroy on the final hole at Le Golf National.
McIlroy endured a torrid end having struggled with his putting throughout. Indeed both players missed clutch putts before the decider. However, McIlroy's 18th tee drive went way right and plugged itself into the bunker. His following shot was unsuccessful and the ball rolled back into the sand.
Then, with a last throw of the dice, McIlroy had one more go but found the water.
Disaster for Rory on the 18th...
His ball is plugged in the bunker off the tee and he can't chip out. ?️

Speaking on BBC 5 Live Sport, European Tour golfer Jamie Donaldson was critical of McIlroy's putting.
He's missed about four putts he should hole. It's turned out they've been more important than we realised. It's been very costly.
Elsewhere, Justin Rose lost to Webb Simpson, Tommy Fleetwood lost to Tony Finau while Paul Casey drew with Brooks Koepka.
