There were probably a number of fans in attendance at Sawgrass who were forced to bite their tongue as Sergio Garcia shot an 8 on the par-4 fifth hole.
Garcia is certainly not the most universally popular European golfer on the PGA Tour; you might recall one surreal moment this time three years ago, when some American fans cheered as the Spaniard hit two-straight balls in the water at the Players Championship.
Playing the same tournament this weekend, Garcia pretty much wrote off his third round with a nightmarish display of putting in admittedly windy conditions on the fifth green.
This was an absolute shit-show.

Remarkably, and rather unfortunately for the 36-year-old, he had pulled this out of his locker just a hole previous:
When in doubt, putt it sideways. #QuickHits https://t.co/hENfWjXYDw

Swings and roundabouts, as they say.
