Europe have retained the Ryder Cup in emphatic fashion as an emotional Francesco Molinari had the honour of securing the point that ultimately proved crucial.
It was a comical ending to an entertaining tournament as Phil Mickelson drove his tee shot into the water and conceded.

USA had attempted to launch some sort of a final day comeback with Justin Thomas and Webb Simpson defeating Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose respectively early on. However, there was no such luck for Tiger Woods versus Jon Rahm and quickly Europe found their gear with Ian Poulter, Sergio Garcia and Thorbjorn Olesen all leading the way with victories.
In the end, it was up to Molinari to secure the prize and in doing so become the first European to win five points.

Molinari going into the fans after winning the crucial #RyderCup2018 point like he’s scored a goal for Italy in a World Cup. Brilliant stuff. Pure unbridled emotion is why it’s the best golfing watch ever.

After his victory, Molinari admitted it means "more than anything" to secure the prize. In the other matches, Henrik Stenson defeated Bubba Watson while Patrick Reed overcame Tyrell Hatton.
