Ryder Cup 2025 is still over ten months away, yet already the tournament is weathering controversy after controversy, with this week's coming when the PGA of America revealed the absurd price it's planning on charging people TO volunteer.

After Europe's win in Rome last year, the bi-annual tournament is heading back stateside, with Bethpage State Park in Long Island set to play host to the clash of Europe and the USA's best.

That said, the tournament has already come under heavy criticism for the exorbitant price punters will be paying to see their favourite golfers in action.

Just last week, the PGA of America set the ticket prices for entry to 750 Dollars, making it the single most expensive entry price for a golf tournament in history.

Exorbitant price to volunteer at Ryder Cup 2025

While the standard entry fee drew criticism itself, The PGA of America has capped off a contentious week by revealing that those looking to volunteer for the competition next September will incur a whopping 392 Dollar fee for their troubles.

The extra-normal demand placed on golf courses during professional tournaments means that the recruitment of volunteers who get to enjoy the golf while lending a hand is at the heart of running any event.

While until recently volunteers would trade their time and labour for free access and gear, recent years have seen an increase in events charging volunteers for the gear and cost of facilities. However, those fees have been rarely subject to large-scale increases in the same manner that general access is.

That was until this week of course when the PGA of America set the stall eighty dollars more expensive than the next most expensive volunteering experience and one hundred dollars more expensive than the US Open.

The 392 dollar fee will see volunteers receive access, a uniform, a drawstring bag, food (during shifts) and a commemorative pin.

Despite the fact that the fee will have little effect on Irish Golf fans in 2025, they'll be praying that fees like these aren't imposed for the 2027 Ryder Cup when Adare Manor in Limerick plays host to the competition.
