Rory McIlroy made it two wins on the spin over Sergio Garcia on Sunday after claiming the WGC Bridgestone Invitational in Ohio. At the Open Championship in Royal Liverpool, McIlroy had been fending off the chase of Garcia but on Sunday it was the Co. Down man's turn to do the chasing as he began the day three shots behind the Spaniard.
A four under par 66 was enough for McIlroy to edge out Garcia and, in turn, retake his place as the world's no.1 golfer ahead of the PGA Championship at Valhalla. In truth, some wayward shooting from Garcia helped McIlroy on the way to his latest win, none more wayward than his tee shot at the par four third which he pulled to the left and amazingly knocked the diamond out of a spectators engagement ring.
Good guy Sergio signed a ball for the spectator before getting her contact information to reimburse her for any damage. Everything turned out okay in the end after they eventually found the diamond. (We'll leave it up to you to insert your own diamond in the rough joke)
