The Augusta security guard who became an internet sensation last night after nearly taking out Tiger Woods with a slide tackle says he was relieved when the golfer managed to make birdie on the hole.
The incident took place on the 14th hole when Woods was taking his second shot from the wooded area to the left of the fairway. After the shot was hit, the security guard ran behind Woods to make sure the oncoming fans kept their distance from the player. What happened next was hilarious.

I'd say Tiger got a bit of a shock with that one. Luckily for all involved, Woods was not hurt and would go on to make birdie on the same hole.
Golf.com tracked down the security guard in question, who said he was mightily relieved that he did not throw Woods off his game:
Well, he made birdie, so I guess it all worked out. Man, I am really glad he made birdie.
Now I’m all over the internet. My boss told me — I don’t have my phone but he does. It’s on Bleacher Report. It’s going to be everywhere. I guess it already is, like, everywhere...
I mean, I don’t know. Everyone was just coming in so fast and we try to get in the right spot. It’s so slippery. I was fine until I slipped…and almost got Tiger Woods.
Tiger would soldier on to finish his round at -6, one shot off the lead and well positioned to make a charge over the weekend.
The former world number one is on the hunt for his first major title since 2008, having experienced a dramatic drop off in form due to injury and personal circumstances. He has had a resurgence over the past 12 months or so, and seems better placed than ever to end that major drought.
