Tiger Woods is reportedly flying to Delaware today, where the BMW Championship is taking place this week, to take part in crisis talks with some of the PGA Tour's top players.

ESPN have reported that the talks are being held to counter the influx of players to the rival LIV Golf Tour, and to get PGA Tour players working together to improve the current Tour set-up.

An unnamed PGA Tour professional and ESPN source, who has been invited to the meeting, has explained the reasoning behind the sit down.

"It's a meeting to get the top 20 players in the world on the same page on how we can continue to make the PGA Tour the best product in professional golf."

There is also a PGA Tour Player Advisory Council meeting due to take place today as well at the Wilmington Country Club, the venue for the BMW Championship, before the aforementioned sit down.

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan is then due to meet players in third meeting at the tournament, on Wednesday.

This flurry of meetings comes after it was reported by the Telegraph that world no. 2 and Open Champion Cameron Smith had excepted $100M to join LIV Golf, in what is by far the biggest coup for the breakaway tour.

Smith is third in the FedEx Cup rankings, but has pulled out of this week's tournament due to an ongoing hip problem. The Aussie was also in contention heading into the final round of last week's St. Jude's Championship, but was retrospectively handed a controversial two shot penalty before beginning his final round on Sunday.
