No one could have expected the hold that Tiger Woods would had in golf. No one could have foreseen the countless video games, the legions of fans who only follow the sport to follow Tiger. The relentless hunt for majors to eclipse Jack Nicklaus.
Then, if you had seen Woods dominate in the mid-90's, you'd have thought it was inevitable that he would break Nicklaus' major record of 18.
Which is why it's amazing that a full 20 years ago, back in 1995 - Earl Woods, father of Tiger, made this prediction:
Before he’s through, my son will win 14 major championships.
How many majors does Tiger have? 14. Earl further went on to say that his son would surpass Nicklaus in global popularity - and I think the countless video games can confirm that was also true.
Unbelievable shout. This is a prediction made in 1995, when Tiger was 19, and three years before he would claim his first major. I'm flabbergasted.
