Former world no.1 Tiger Woods was found "asleep at the wheel" with the engine running when he was arrested on Monday, according to reports in America.
Woods was found behind the wheel of his Mercedes, which was stopped in the right lane of a road, and had to be woken by the arresting officer.
According to the police report published by numerous US media outlets, "Woods had extremely slow and slurred speech," and was "co-operative" but "confused."
Officers also stated that Woods had failed all but one roadside test - including the "standing on one leg" test and the "walk and turn" test.
However, despite the results sheet from his breathalyser test noting he was physically unable to walk alone, Woods "blew zeroes" during his breathalysing, indicating a lack of alcohol in his system.
Last night, Woods maintained that he had not drank any alcohol prior to getting in his car, and instead had experienced an unexpected and volatile reaction to his prescribed medication:
I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions.
I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications.
I didn't realise the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.
The police record states that the 14-time Major winner was released "on his own recognisance", meaning he promised in writing to co-operate with future legal proceedings.
In any case, Woods can consider himself extremely fortunate not to have harmed himself or others from behind the wheel, given he was found asleep in his car in the middle of a road.
