The BBC have tonight issued an apology for their much beloved commentator Peter Alliss's carelessly sexist remarks as Zach Johnson was lining up a putt to guarantee him victory in the British Open.

As Zach sized up the putt, the camera zoomed in on his wife (and, we soon discovered, 'CEO') Kim Barcley. Alliss, in characteristically playful mood, ruminated on what Kim might have been pondering.

Kim did not confirm whether or not she was thinking this, though it's possible she wasn't asked. The BBC tonight apologised in case anyone was offended.

Alliss, a much lauded figure, delights in making risque remarks.
