Shane Lowry came into Friday's action at the Open de Espana somewhat downbeat after a poor Thursday had left the Irishman on +4 and scrambling to make the cut.
In truth, Thursday's round was not one of Lowry's finest hours in what has generally been a positive year for the Offaly native, as he carded four bogeys en route to a 75 which seemed to have him out of contention to progress to the weekend.
However, Lowry would completely turn things around on Friday.
A stellar round saw Lowry card five birdies en route to a bogey-less 66. That was enough to completely undo the damage of Thursday and left Lowry safely within the cut on -1 entering the weekend.

It was a remarkable switch-up in form from Lowry, and he has continued it on Saturday afternoon.
After Friday's round, Lowry was asked how he had managed to turn things around so quickly. The 2019 Open champion jokingly suggested that the few glasses of wine he enjoyed with Tyrrell Hatton on Thursday evening may have helped to calm his nerves.

Lowry revealed that he had enjoyed a night with Tyrrell Hatton after the disappointment of Thursday's round. He joked that the pair had taken things too far, before suggesting it had loosened him up on the course on Friday.
If I'm being honest, I had dinner with Tyrrell Hatton last night.
We had a couple too many glasses of wine! Maybe that made me play a bit freer today. I kind of went out and played carefree, this is a funny old game. On to the weekend.
In the replies to the DP World Tour's tweet containing the video, Lowry made sure to hammer home that he was not hungover for Friday's round - merely that he and Hatton had particularly enjoyed themselves the night before.
Ah wasn’t hungover lads… but I might have enjoyed a glass of 🍷 with @TyrrellHatton

Tyrrell Hatton played alongside Shane Lowry on the victorious European Ryder Cup team this time last year, and it's clear the pair have remained close since that golden Roman weekend.
Lowry has continued his strong form into Saturday, moving to -3 despite carding three bogeys on the front nine.
